It is our goal to grant each heartfelt wish within 6-9 months. Once a child has medically qualified, our wish-granting volunteers will contact the family as soon as possible to discover the child’s one true wish.
A child's imagination is always the driving force in determining, designing and coordinating the wish experience. Although every wish is unique and powerful, wish requests typically fall into one of four categories: to go, to have, to meet and to be.
We will not grant wishes for motorized vehicles that are capable of serving as primary modes of transportation; including, but not limited to, cars, vans, trucks, motorcycles and SUVs.
We will also not grant wishes for service animals, large-scale support, medical expenses or life-sustaining equipment, firearms / weapons, gifts of money, in-ground pools, purchase or improvement of real estate or property (this includes the moving of walls, general construction, adding square footage, etc.). Other restrictions and/or guidelines may apply.
When a wish involves travel, a child’s loved ones including two adults and all siblings under the age of 18 who reside with the child are included in the wish experience.
No. All wish expenses are fully covered, including all travel and spending money when appropriate. Make-A-Wish's objective is to create a memorable wish experience for both the child and family that is not clouded by financial concerns.
